Different Types of Plumbing Systems For Homes What exactly is plumbing? Plumbing is any network that carries fluids for various uses to various locations. It includes both domestic plumbing systems as well as public sewer systems in other countries. Domestic plumbing usually refers to the systems which are present in residential houses, apartments, or other such structures. Public plumbing systems are those that are regularly used by municipal governments and water companies for the supply of safe drinking water. Public plumbing also involves underground pipes that carry treated sewage and chemicals for various purposes. There are two types of plumbing systems- central and peripheral. Central plumbing is generally used for large buildings, whereas peripheral plumbing is widely used in domestic plumbing. Central plumbing comprises all pipes that are part of the main system of a building or that carry wastewater. The pipes in peripheral plumbing system are smaller in diameter and are therefore less expensive than those in central plumbing systems. A major component of the sanitary plumbing system is the drain field. The drain field forms an intermediate path for the discharge of solids and wastewater. The pipes of the drain field merge to form one large pipe. Different sizes of pipes are required in different situations. For Total Service Quality Plumbing & Gas , for the kitchen sink the size may be bigger than that of the toilet bowl. Different kinds of elements are added to the sanitary fixtures in the kitchen to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and germs. A plumbing system consists of numerous components including pipe fittings, fixtures, valves, and pumps. The plumbing pipes and fittings are made of materials such as copper, iron, brass, PVC, and stainless steel. All these materials have different properties and can be used for different plumbing systems. The PVC pipes and fittings are inexpensive and durable. In fact, they are the most commonly used materials for plumbing systems because they are sturdy, resistant to wear and tear, reusable, and Eco-friendly. The main plumbing components include: drainage field, pre-existing piping, fixtures, traps, pipelines, and fittings. All these plumbing systems are necessary for the proper functioning of the house. All these plumbing systems need to be carefully installed because they can cause damage if not installed properly. The most common plumbing system in residential plumbing systems is the water plumbing system, which includes: faucets, showers, toilets, bathtubs, bath floors, drain cleaning equipment, diverters, fixtures, pipes, and valves. The main reason why people install the residential plumbing systems in their houses is to avoid the risk of getting sick due to water contaminated with toxic chemicals. A poor water supply can lead to various diseases such as headaches, muscle spasms, diarrhea, sore throat, dizziness, vomiting, etc. The best way to avoid getting affected by water contaminated with dangerous chemicals is by installing a sanitary plumbing system. The most commonly used plumbing material is PVC or polyvinyl chloride pipe. One of the most common plumbing materials, cast iron has been in use since the past four hundred years. However, in the recent past, the demand for the PVC pipes has grown tremendously in the US. The PVC plumbing pipe is comparatively cheap than any other plumbing material. In addition, it is also durable and strong. The most common type of plumbing in the US is the gravity plumbing system. In this system, a single hole is dug in the basement and a series of pipes is built in the wall. These pipes are then connected to a main pipe that flows into the kitchen. A new series of pipes is then installed outside the house through these holes. In the UK, the most commonly used plumbing material is cast iron pipe.
