The Premier League Can They Achieve a First Television Win?

When will the next Arsenal fixture be on television? Well, it seems that with the imminent release of the Aaron Ramsey documentary, 'The Gunners', based preview football  around his time at the Emirates, that we may get some leaks before the season starts. The next Arsenal match on television is Arsenal v Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday 18th April 2021. This fixture has always been highly regarded as the one where the Gunners will lose by a single point to their opponents, yet many experts make their predictions that this may well be an Arsenal defeat. I say that this may well be a disappointment considering that the Gunners have been playing with much more confidence recently, even going the entire length against potentially top-draw Chelsea in their own ground.

Last Sunday, there was also news that Arsenal will be without both Mathieu Debuchy and Bacary Sagna for the clash against rivals Manchester United. Bacary has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates after just one season at the Emirates and is now set to battle for a place on the bench with Hector Bellerin, believed to be preferred tooleon Bonini, as well as Thierry Henry. Meanwhile, Mathieu Debuchy suffered a heavy foot injury during the 2nd half of the Watford v Arsenal match. His injury is believed to be a muscular tear of the quadriceps. It is unknown whether this will rule him out of the Premier League matches this season, but due to the injury to Bacary Sagna, who is already out of the England side, it may well be a positive for Mathieu Debuchy as he looks to compete for a place in the France squad for the World Cup year next summer.

Hector Bellerin is another star of the Arsenal team, along with Mesut Ozil and Nicklas Bendtner. Bellerin impressed on his debut against Palace last weekend, assisting Mesut Ozil's opener before making an impressive save from Kevin Phillips' goal. Bellerin has impressed on a number of previous occasions for Arsenal and is now settled into his new central defensive partnership with Mathieu Debuchy. This has been a positive development for the Arsenal players, considering that Bacary Sagna was originally deployed in a right sided position, despite being a left handed centre forward for many years at Monaco. Bacary Sagna has enjoyed regular success in his three years at the Emirates, despite often struggling to adjust to the rigours of English football.

The Gunners are expected to be bolstered in the coming weeks with the permanent signing of Brazilian left back permanently from Sporting Lisbon. Thiago Silva is expecting to fill the right half alongside Mathieu Debuchy, with the two pairing expected to form a formidable partnership in central defence for Arsenal. Bacary Sagna has also impressed on his debut in the English football top flight, although he too is expected to add further quality to his game at right back. Bacary's arrival will certainly provide additional options for Arsenal fans this season, with goalkeeper Rob Rosling has impressed against Villa but fails to record a save.

Bacary Sagna's emergence as a first team regular has surprised many observers in North America, although the former French international has struggled to live up to the expectations. Bacary's lack of grounding in English football, along with the obvious lack of pace and strength have contributed to his overall limitations, although his performance against Aston Villa was a notable exception. Bacay's partnership with Thierry Henry has been an inspirational one at Arsenal, with the French striker providing a much-needed spark in the Gunners attack. This has helped Arsenal build a strong platform upon which they can build their season wins against other top sides in the English football league.

Arsenal fans are optimistic of a bright future, although many will surely be wishing that the long awaited first televised match would not feature one of the local rivals. However, with the right attitude and self-belief, the Gunners will no doubt be able to bounce back against Villa and help themselves to a first double in their history of playing in the premier football competition in the UK. As we wait for Sunday's Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium, we'll be excited to see whether this is the season where the Gunners can win the FA Cup.
