Comparison of cast iron bathtub and acrylic bathtub

Cast iron bathtub

The cast iron bathtub is made of cast iron and the surface is covered with enamel, so the weight is very heavy and it is not easy to produce noise during use. Because the casting process is more complicated, the cast iron bathtub is generally simple in shape and expensive.

Due to the thick wall of the bathtub, the outstanding feature of the cast iron bathtub is its good thermal insulation performance. It is favored by some consumers who value thermal insulation performance. In fact, 90% of the heat loss of the bathtub during bathing is through the heat exchange and heat radiation between the water surface and the air. Only 10% of the heat is lost through the cylinder; in order to pursue this 10% thermal insulation performance, it will cost nearly twice as much money as buying other bathtubs, so the cost-effectiveness of cast iron bathtubs is not very high.

Acrylic bathtub

Acrylic bathtub is made of artificial organic materials. It is characterized by rich shapes, light weight, good surface finish, and low price. However, artificial organic materials have poor high temperature resistance, poor pressure resistance, non-abrasion resistance, and surface aging. Disadvantages, so the surface of the acrylic bathtub rarely does not change color after three years of use. However, some brand manufacturers use imported high-brightness and high-hardness special acrylic sheets for sanitary ware during production, which overcomes some of the shortcomings of acrylic to a certain extent.

To put it simply, acrylic bathtubs are cheap, have good insulation, and have many styles, but they are easy to fade and the surface is easy to be scratched by hard objects. The cast iron bathtub is durable, has low water injection noise and is easy to clean, but the price is too high, the weight is heavy, and the installation and transportation are difficult.

If you usually use the bathtub less frequently, or the house needs to be renovated within a few years, then the acrylic bathtub is more suitable due to its good cost performance. However, if you often need to use it, and have requirements for the quality and appearance of the bathtub, if you are planning for a long-term plan, it is recommended that a cast iron bathtub is more suitable.
