The Significance of Oxygen Sensors to propel Efficiency of Car Engines.
Posted by sjautomotive on September 19th, 2014
Driven by the effort to increase efficiency of car engines, engineers are always in the effort to discover new features in the wheeler. The oxygen sensor is such a discovery and is an indispensable part of emissions control system that is programmed to feed data/information to the engine management computer. With the ultimate objective to propel power of engines by efficiently reducing the number of emissions, oxygen sensors serve as an indispensable feature to boost a car’s performance. Experts of SJ Automotive, a renowned automotive oxygen sensors manufacturer in Korea believes that authentic automotive parts can only ensure diligent performance of vehicles. Since it is one of the crucial automotive parts, it helps in extending service life of four-wheelers.
Why you need oxygen sensors in cars?
Cars with gasoline engine bring smooth performance of road by burning gasoline with oxygen present in it. There is a perfect ratio of air and gasoline, which is 14.7:1 that marks the presence of carbon and hydrogen in a particular amount in fuel. Now, when this ratio is unstable it brings a major breakdown to the performance of vehicles. If air is less than this ratio it is possible that fuel will be left after combustion. The situation is defined as rich mixture, which is severely detrimental for the environment since it tends to create pollution. Unburned fuel discharge a lot of polluted air that bear harmful particles in air causing serious and even fatal consequences for living beings.
On the other hand, if air is more than the ratio, then it is obvious that there is excess oxygen. The situation is described as lean mixture that discharges nitrogen-oxide pollutants, triggering serious damage to the car’s engine. As a result, either you notice complete breakdown of your car and severely poor performance. Now that a lot has been explained, it is important to determine the role of oxygen sensors at this point to help wheelers maintain the perfect ratio and at the same time ease in performance.
Role of Oxygen Sensors
Positioned right in the center of exhaust pipe, the oxygen sensor helps to detect lean and rich mixtures. What happens is that the formation of a certain chemical reaction in the sensor tends to generate voltage. When the engine’s computer reads the voltage to determine whether the mixture is lean or rich, it accordingly adjusts the amount or quantity of fuel entering the engine, thus keeping the perfect ratio stable and performance of engine absolutely smooth.
Why cars need Oxygen sensors?
Car’s engines demand maximum amount of oxygen for smooth and efficient performance. Now, the amount of oxygen required depends on a number of factors, such as, temperature of the air, altitude, load on the engine, barometric pressure, etc.
Equally, an aircon compressor plays a special role in this case to keep the engine of cars cool, as is believed by experts of SJ Automotive, aircon compressor manufacturer in Korea. The compressor enables to compress refrigerant that enters at a high pressure vapour and eventually converts into gas. The gas circulates inside the tubes and then heat released from that gas causes it to cool converting into high-pressure liquid, which then returns to the compressor. Eventually, the cooled gas helps to chill the car’s engine. Also See: Oxygen Sensors, Perfect Ratio, Sj Automotive, Oxygen Sensor, Oxygen, Engine, Cars
