Learn About the Different Kinds of Kicks in Muay Thai

Many people in the U.S. are familiar with the term "Muay thai" which is basically just Thai boxing with some added kicking. While Muay Thai boxing is growing in popularity in the United States, many people do not know much about it. Muay Thai was originally created in the country of Thailand in the early 1990s. Many students trained with traditional kick boxers and fighters who trained in the country of Thailand eventually created their own style of boxing. The name Muay Thai literally translates to "Million Hands" in Thai, which means that the boxing มวย สยาม มวย ตู้ techniques used in the sport are extremely effective.

Muay Thai consists of three rounds of standing fighting followed by two rounds of submission holds. This style of boxing uses the basic kicks and knees strikes to take down opponents. There is more to that question though than what is being covered here. Most folks would assume that Muay Thai is perhaps the strongest system out of all, as it covers more strike areas than any other system out there. While this is true, it also addresses many more areas of striking than boxing.

Muay Thai can be called a low-impact version of kickboxing due to the fact that there are very few striking exchanges in the fights. This is why Muay Thai has become so popular among martial arts enthusiasts. You do not see a lot of kicks and knees during most MMA fights, but you will find elbows and strikes from time to time. Muay Thai has evolved into a full contact sport with significant modifications from traditional kickboxing.

While Muay Thai fighters often do not wear protective head gear like boxing does, they do protect their heads with a simple headband or a hat. The reason for this is that Muay Thai often involves several rounds of grappling and attacks that could bring damage to the fighter's head and eyes. If they were not protected, then this could prove to be deadly. In addition, Muay Thai fighters often use elbows and knees, but there are times when they also throw their hands. This leads to fighters using both hands to attack their opponents.

Many martial arts such as boxing utilize striking exchanges to set up power punches and combinations. But, unlike Muay Thai, which involves a great deal of grappling and striking, in Muay Thai fighters only rely on power punches to bring their opponents to the ground. When Muay Thai was first introduced, the rules of boxing were almost completely different. But, with time, it has become a well accepted sport, where fighters exchange striking blows using allowed knees, elbows, and fists. Because the head is rarely protected in a Muay Thai fight, this leaves the fighters open to being struck in the face.

A good fighter in a Muay Thai match will use high kicks to try to take down his opponents. However, many Muay Thai fighters rely too much on their knee strikes, which can lead to being knocked out due to being slammed to the ground. The fighters that use the high kicks to take down opponents are called Striking Supremes. Many fighters who specialize in the Muay Thai Kickboxing discipline do not use hands strikes, instead relying on their shin strikes to deliver the knockout. Some other types of strikes in a Muay Thai kickboxing match include elbows and knees, but these strikes are used to keep the opponent off balance or to just cause them to trip and fall to the ground.
