Don’t Skip a beat: Prepare for a heart attack

Prepare for a heart attack which could protect your life now rather than later.

A disaster will come without giving notice, the same can be said about a heart attack, you could be anywhere, at a supermarket, at home, at work, or anywhere when your heart stops beating. And you can take actions to stop in case one should ever happen to you or your loved ones.

Approximately, once in a minute, there is a heart attack happening in the country, this generally happens when there is a lack of oxygen to the heart or a certain part of the heart. This normally happens due to the buildup of glassy substances like plaque which can clog the arteries and make it difficult for blood to flow to that part of the heart.

Your Current Medications

Make a full list of all medicines you are taking currently, including name, dosage, and frequency. This is important information to be considered for your cardiologist, especially when coming up with a treatment plan. You should also make a list of all and any allergies you may have. Don’t just consider that you will have all this information beforehand. Jotting down all these will help in making the method a lot easier especially before an appointment.

Your Doctors

It is never a bad idea to have all the names of your health care providers listed down before your visit. It is important to jot down the doctor's name, the condition you are visiting for, and any contact information if any. We may need to contact your cardiologist to discuss your current situation, medications, and treatments.

Your Medical History

This one is important, as the doctor wants to know about any preexisting conditions. This includes any surgeries and major tests and procedures done in the last year. Knowing your health records, we can help make a proper analysis and also determine the best course of action for treating your condition.

Family History

From siblings and parents to uncles and children, we particularly need to know if you have a family history of heart diseases, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes. Knowing the health issues and illnesses of family members can help us observe your health and prescribe preventive measures.
