COVID-19: Complete List of COVID-19 Vaccination Centers in UAE

It has been well over a year since the first Coronavirus case was documented in Wuhan Market, China, but the world is yet to see the last of this recrudescent virus. Many nations, particularly third-world countries, have borne the brunt of the virus, and are still struggling to tame it, while many others have fared well in flattening the curve. However, some activities, like Real Estate and Business Setup in Dubai have barely seen any change as these have always been given prime importance by the UAE Government.

The UAE has been one of the few nations that has sedulously followed the implementation of social distancing protocols to curb the pandemic. What’s more is that the UAE is well on its way to vaccinate half its population before the end of March, according to the country’s health officials.

The UAE started its campaign of bringing to its 10 million residents China’s Sinopharm vaccine in late 2020. Currently, the UAE’s national program stands second in the world and has the second-highest vaccination rate, second to Israel. More than 1.8 million have already received the Sinopharm Vaccine. However, the U.S. & German-developed vaccine, Pfizer-BioNTech is still yet to reach the general public, as it currently is available only to people over 60 years of age, frontline workers and those with pre-existing health conditions.

Vaccination

The prevailing practice is that both the vaccines require two jabs, with a length of 28 days between them. After receiving the second dose, the vaccinee will no longer be required to quarantine, but must continue following social distancing protocols. Earlier this month, the NCEMA said that while taking the vaccine is not mandatory it is highly encouraged. Government officials residing in Abu Dhabi not choosing to take either of the vaccines are directed to take a PCR test once every two weeks.

Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was found to exhibit an efficacy of 86% while Sinopharm could tally an efficacy of 86%. But many medical officials still remain dubious of that claim as the publication of the data governing the development and trial of the vaccine is inadequate to support the claim.

A prominent Spike in Cases

Because of the influx of tourists in late December into the UAE, cases have seen a significant rise within two weeks, particularly in localities near open beaches and malls. However, the aftermath has not affected some sectors as there is an increasing number of entrepreneurs who are looking to Setup New Business in Dubai.

Despite visitors holding a negative RT-PCR test before alighting or departing, many people suspect that there is a more resilient strain of the virus from the UK at play and responsible for the small outburst in COVID-19 cases. This theory holds water, given the high inflow of British tourists into the UAE. The spike in cases — which now averages around 3,000 per day in contrast to the 1,000 cases every day in late December — resulted in the U.K. excluding the UAE from its “Safe Travel Corridor” list, even as many countries have closed entry to U.K. travellers over fear of the novel virus strain. However, the silver lining is that the UAE has successfully managed to keep the case count well below 2,000 per day for the whole of 2020.

It still appears that for now, UAE will not observe any lockdown measures but will continue to push on with the vaccine campaign. Emirates like Abu Dhabi have been approaching the situation quite punctiliously, and have mandated a series of negative PCR tests to anyone who is entering the Emirate, which mostly happen to be businesspersons looking for Business Setup in Dubai.

The Federal Authority, in early January, announced that all federal and government entities will be required to take a PCR test once every seven days if they have not opted for two doses of the vaccine. Dubai Health Authority has said that they are making provisions for organizing virtual seminars aimed at making people aware of how important the vaccine is. So, if you are an expatriate, looking for Dubai Business Setup, it is imperative to get vaccinated.

According to the UAE govt., there are currently 120 COVID-19 Vaccine Centers, as of 17th January, 2021. This increase in number has been in correspondence to the heightened interest for the vaccine among the public.
