Tips for Fixing Noisy Faucets

Do your faucets make a lot of noise? Do you hear a whistle, chatter, or scream from the faucets? You usually hear such noises when you turn the faucets on or off. The reason behind this irritating issue need not be the same for all faucets. In most of the newly built houses, people do select small pipes in order to make the fitting look stylish and at the same time making the bathroom look spacious as well. When the pipe is too small, it may not be possible for water to pass through it properly. As a result, it ends up making noise. On the other hand in the case of older homes, the pipes may have accumulated scales on their inner walls, as a result ending up in noisy screaming faucets. In both cases, you will have to replace the pipes in order to get over the irritating noise. It isn’t an easy process to replace an existing pipe with a brand new one. You will have to take the help of an expert plumber in London to get it done.

The noisy faucet can also be due to the washer inside it. If the washer is of the wrong size or if it is not held properly to the stem, it ends up with whistles from the tap. To resolve this issue, you can be a plumber on your own. To start with the plumbing process, initially, you need to turn off the water supply followed by opening the faucet. Then you need to tighten or replace the existing washer with a new one and then set back the faucet to its position. Yet if you hear noise from the faucet, you need to check the functionality of the washer seat. In few cases, residues make the washer seat partially closed. As a result, it becomes difficult for the water to come out of the faucet and thereby causing a whistling sound from the tap. You can get rid of this noise by cleaning the washer seat.

Sometimes you can come across a shrieking noise when you turn the handle of the faucet. You usually come across this noise when the metal threads are binding against the threads of the faucet. In order to get over the noise, as a plumber, you need to remove the stem and rub both the thread with petroleum jelly in order to provide smooth movement. This lubrication will make it easy for you to turn the handle without making any noise.  If the noise still persists, then it points out the presence of worn-out faucet body threads or stem threads. This may cause noise and vibration of the faucet resulting in disturbing noises. Lubrication is just not enough to get over this issue.

In order to get over this issue, you need to replace the existing stem with a new one. If the sound still persists, then the issue is with the faucet body thread. The only way to get over the noise is by replacing the faucet body completely. It isn’t that difficult to replace the faucet body. You can do that too on your own. So, resolve all these issues within few minutes.
