Cleaning tarnish from silver jewelry can be an expensive and time-consuming process if done professionally. However, cleaning up tarnished silver can be accomplished using items found around the home. Some of the simplest household items that can be used to clean silver are ammonia, vinegar, and baking soda.

How to Clean Silver wolf jewelry with Ammonia

It is important to remember that ammonia can seriously damage silver if it is not well diluted. Those with little experience using ammonia or cleaning silver should use another technique to avoid damaging your silver wolf ring or wolf necklace.

Work in a well-ventilated area when using ammonia as a household cleaner. Avoid spilling the ammonia cleaning solution on other items.

Add two teaspoons of liquid dishwashing soap and one teaspoon of household ammonia to 1/4 cup of water. Mix the solution well. Increase the proportions of each item to make a larger amount of cleaning solution if necessary.

Dip a cotton swab into the mixture and gently scrub the silver until the tarnish is removed. Use a clean cotton cloth for removing tarnish from larger items like a wolf bracelet.

Place your piece of wolf jewelry in the solution if scrubbing does not remove the tarnish. Allow the silver to soak for 30 to 40 minutes. Remove the item from the solution and rinse it with water immediately before scrubbing it with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Dry and polish the silver with a clean cotton cloth before storing or using it again.

How to Clean Silver wolf jewelry with Vinegar

Vinegar is one of the simplest cleaning solutions available. It is inexpensive, non-toxic and an excellent tool for removing tarnish from your wolf items. Most people hate the idea of polishing their silver, but this chore can be completed cheaply and easily with the use of vinegar.

Add one teaspoon of salt to a cup of vinegar and allow the salt to dissolve. Use larger quantities of vinegar and salt in order to clean a larger number of items. Make a paste of the vinegar and salt mixture by adding 1/4 cup of flour to each cup of vinegar used. The paste should be the consistency of thick glue.

Spread the vinegar and flour paste onto the wolf necklace and allow the paste to sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Clean the paste off of the silver jewelry or silverware with a clean cloth and warm water. Polish and dry the items with a dry cloth. Repeat the process if any tarnish remains on the silver.

How to Clean a Silver necklace with Baking Soda

Baking soda is a simple and effective cleaning tool for many household projects, and removing tarnish from silver is one of them. Using baking soda to clean tarnish from a silver necklace, plates or silverware can be done quickly.

Fill a large bowl with a quart of hot water and add one tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of salt. Allow the baking soda and salt to dissolve completely before continuing. Stir the water if necessary.

Put a piece of aluminum foil in the bottom of the bowl. The piece should be large enough to hold the silver items that need to be cleaned. Place the silver items on the foil and allow them to sit for 15 to 20 seconds before removing them.

Gently scrub the chains with a soft-bristled brush if necessary. Rinse the chains off with clean, warm water before polishing and drying the wolf necklace with a clean cotton cloth.

Tarnish is an irritating problem for many people with silver jewelry. It can be expensive to remove, and the tarnish itself will damage necklaces made of silver. Removing silver tarnish with simple household items will save both time and money.
