Indian Cats are the Cutest!

Hailing from a brown family comes with it's own set of pros and cons(pros mostly), but the biggest con is that families usually do not allow to keep a pet at home, especially my mom..whenever I brought up the topic of buying or adopting a pet (I loved cats), she always had the same reply..that she already had two pets- my brother Ishaan and I, Mitali.

Although I couldn't agree more about my brother being an absolute animal..I disagreed with the other part..still, I wanted a pet so badly, but my mom was being so stuck up that she just wouldn't listen. Poor dad had no say in this..he loved cats too..but mom always flashed her big bold eyes to him when he supported our ideas..he was just stuck between us.

Since childhood, my brother and I have always talked about getting an exotic cat breed and we have always planned that we will be very careful, passionate and loving towards our pet..we decided that we will name our future cat Dodo(child brain, I tell you)..we also fixed our schedule of training the cat so that our parents don't feel the discomfort of our house being dirty or mismanaged (such cute and considerate kids)..but our mom was just not agreeing with what we had to offer.

So, we thought of showing mom that how cute cats are..we took her to one of Ishaan's friend Hardik who owned a cat..my mom was unaware what we were upto, so she happily agreed to accompany us..and so did dad.

When we entered the house, all was good..Hardik's mother offered us tea(mum's favorite beverage)..she was in a good mood and suddenly she felt something move on her feet..she freaked out..she saw a cat softly pacing through her feet..my mom stood up to leave..but Hardik's mom calmed her down saying that the cat wouldn't hurt her..then we got the death stare from mom (she understood our intentions).

My mom asked Hardik's mom that how can she tolerate a pet, she then explained

  • How cats were really cool.
  • How cats are quiet and not at all high tempered.
  • Cats do not take much of space.
  • Owning a cat is affordable.
  • Cats clean themselves regularly.

My mom was still a little skeptical..but a little more convinced(Hardik's mom to the rescue..phew!)..she further put her cat on my mum's lap and she asked mom to pet it..which mom did..she was scared at first but then she came around..later, on our way to our home, mom was absolutely quiet..she said nothing!! Ishaan and I had lost all hopes of getting a feline at home..we were shattered!

The next day when we came back from our colleges..we found out that we had two cats sitting right in front of us in a basket..those were not the breed we wanted but Indian cat breeds..we were ecstatic with whatever he had..turns out mom and dad both surprised us with a cat..we named one of them Dodo(of course) and the other one Stella. In the end..all of us were happy to have these adorable felines at home.
