However, the popularity of football has sometimes gone beyond the sporting arena. Fans take it beyond the sporting arena and become followers of the game and its people. The loyal following that football commands is in some ways unique to other sports. In France, for example, football is a national religion and some devotees even hold religious ceremonies while supporting their teams.

Football is a team sport that involves many individual performances by individuals. Goals scored by one team are usually viewed as a sign of triumph by the fans of the other side. As a result, the intensity of football matches is often quite high and fans throw tantrums when the scoreline is not favourable. However, in other countries, the intensity of the fans' attitude is tempered by respect for the game and desire not to take sides.

The world of football is a global community. Fans from all corners of the world can be found expressing their love for the sport by competing in international tournaments and derbies, supporting their favorite team at local levels and watching their favorite stars in action on television. While the game of football may seem simple on the surface, behind the scenes there is much more going on than meets the eye. The sport of football is now a multi billion dollar industry.

Football is widely popular in many countries, including South Africa where it is the national sport. In Brazil, the football fanatics go crazy when their team win or lose. A matchday filled with excitement and passion is exactly what a football fan looks for when watching a live game. Aside from local matches, international tournaments like the World Cup are also very popular. As the tournament gets closer, more fans turn out to be part of the excitement. While football may seem a simple sport to most, it has managed to draw people from all walks of life and all over the world.

When football fans are not busy enjoying the game on the field, they have far more things to occupy their time. This is because football has now become a part of the lifestyle of a large number of people. Young children in particular show great interest in the sport and try their hand at making a football lamp. For adults, football continues to be a past time and is now being enjoyed by men, women and children of all ages. With this in mind, it is no wonder that football has managed to find itself firmly in the very top spot among all sports.
