The best Lake District coach tours

If we’re planning on taking a short vacation and visiting the Lake District, then we should try to find a good tour guide to show us around. The fact is that, while we can visit and explore this wonderful National Park on our own, the only way in which we’ll be able to enjoy it truly will be by taking guided Lake District walks.

The Lake District is not only famous for its wonderful landscape, as we’ll be able to walk around the lakes, forests and mountains or fells, but also for being the place where the Lake Poets resided. The most prominent of these, the ones which we’ll certainly hear about during our Lake District coach tours, are William Woodsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Robert Southey. They are, of course, not the only ones that are worthy of mention when it comes to the Lake School of poetry. The beauty of the Lake District was also used for inspiration by other poets, as well as writers in general, some of which are contemporaries like Bryan Procter and Walter Scott. We will be able to visit most of the houses in which these poets lived, like the Woodsworth House, the place where the poet was born. Of course, for those that are more interested in sightseen, the many lakes, forests and fells will be the places around which their Lake District walks should take them.

There are many options for those that want to enjoy the landscape and breathe in the fresh and rich air. If we want to enjoy a short walk, then we can go around the many fells, and if we’re in the mood for a longer walk we can go on the Cumbria Way. Without a doubt, all of our Lake District walks will take us through places that are beautiful and which have a rich history. If we don’t have that much time on our hands but we would still like to see most of the sights, then we should consider getting in touch with a professional tour guide that can offer Lake District coach tours. We can even organize such tours ourselves, either for our family, or for a larger number of persons, hiring a tour guide that can do a full coach commentary.

While the Lake District coach tours will take us through most of the sights in the National Park, if we should choose to visit something else, then we should know that a qualified tour guide will be able to take us through the surrounding areas as well. There are beautiful places that we can visit, like the town of Appleby, which is the historic county of Westmorland, and Alston, a small town that offers great views of the surrounding fells and the South Tyne Valley. During our Lake District walks we shouldn’t forget that we can visit two heritage railways, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. If we would like to see more of the lakes, then we should know that we can enjoy a ferry ride on the Coniston Water, Derwent Water and Ullswater. Overall, visiting Lake District can be a truly enriching experience, especially if we choose to get the help of an experienced guide.
