Which One Is Better- Aluminum Coil or Copper Coil

Air conditioners and cooling units have become an essential part of our life. Households, offices, commercial units, factories, you name a place and cooling units can be found over there. In the summer months, they are the ones missed a lot. We wish to be seated in an air-conditioned place, sipping on the drinks. Storing food products, grains, freeze dried foods and such edibles have been made possible only with cooling units. There are different types of air conditioners as per the coils used in them- copper coil one and aluminum coil one.

Since the time of their inception, they have been a favorite topic of debate among people. Which one of them is better for air conditioning? Work of the coil is very essential since it helps in changing the liquid refrigerant into gas allowing it to reduce the temperature of the surrounding. The evaporation is a major part of cooling process hence the coil in which it takes place needs to be working properly. Efficiency of any HVAC system is affected to a great level by the type of coil used in the system.

Both copper and aluminum have certain pros and cons; therefore choose them wisely based on your conscience:

-        Copper is expensive in comparison to aluminum which further enhances the cost of production and maintenance on regular intervals. Since there is a need of having affordable air conditioning units as well as rest of the HVAC systems, the manufacturers prefer aluminum to copper.

-        Shaping aluminum into desired shaped and sized coil is much easier in comparison to the copper ones. This also reduces the cost of manufacture ring coils since no additional pressure is applied on aluminum. Apart from this, more copper is required to make coil similar to aluminum, which adds to the cost.

-        Heat transfer in copper is better than aluminum due to the higher heat transfer coefficient rate. It helps in better cooling at a quicker rate of evaporation.

-         Copper coils are easy to maintain on the spot in case of any damage to them while aluminum coils in India need to be replaced entirely. Given the low cost of aluminum, it is justified to have them.

Aluminum coils have some pros as well as cons. You need to consider your needs and budget in order to choose the right one for your HVAC system or industry. Moreover, there are certain methods, which can enhance the life of aluminum coils without additional cost.
