Portable Diagnostic Devices Witness Increase in Demand Due to Covid-19

Posted by coherent market insights on February 2nd, 2021

Using portable diagnostic devices is a cost effective solution to many healthcare issues. Portable devices for diagnosing and tracking patient health has become more popular in recent years as well as in the private sector. Portable diagnostic devices offer various financial benefits. They enable easy testing in the patient location. Previously expensive laboratory tests prevented diseases from developing or prolonging where they otherwise require more complicated hospital treatments or extensive monitoring. Portable devices can remotely access diagnostic results and recommend appropriate treatment therefore with increased clinical doctor efficiency. Portable ultrasound imaging devices, infrared thermometer, and portable EKG are some of the examples of portable devices used in diagnosis of various diseases.

Portable Ultrasound Imaging Devices

Portable ultrasound imaging devices are some of the most commonly used portable diagnostic devices. These devices use ultrasound technology to produce high-quality images of individuals' body structures, organs and tissues. This method of ultrasound imaging offers greater accuracy compared to the conventional types of ultrasound. This method has several applications in medicine including abdominal x-ray, gynecological, mammography, refractory, skin and vascular exams. Portable ultrasound technology is used to image bones, organs and tissues via ultrasound waves. Traditional non-intrusive ultrasound techniques usually include a hand held computerized scanner coupled by a long cable to a high-power rack-mount diagnostic processing and display unit; and a fixed-array ultrasound transducer that returns and transmits ultrasound energy directly back to the patient's ultrasound probe for complete body mapping. The fixed-array ultrasound transducer usually contains several ultrasonic channels that send and receives ultrasound energy. The main problem with the above-mentioned techniques is that they require a human to control the ultrasound tools and the depth of the ultrasound probe.
