What are the advantages of LED lights?

LED lamps have many advantages over traditional bulbs. They build on the best parts of previous generation bulbs, while being inefficient. The following by MYLIGHT Indoor Lighting Suppliers to introduce several advantages of LED lights:

Advantages of LED lights

1. Life is long

The components of LED lights and how they glow greatly extend the life of these bulbs. While other bulbs can be shortened by correct or incorrect use, LED lights bulbs' low caloric levels, durability and high energy efficiency make it possible to last thousands of hours longer than other types of bulbs.

Often, important parts of the bulb (such as the filament) weaken over time, causing the bulb to burn out. However, LED lights don't burn out like other bulbs do. Instead, the amount of light they produce gradually decreases, known as lumen depreciation. The life of an LED lights depends on how long it takes for the bulb's lumen output to be reduced to 30%, so if you don't mind or don't want to, it may last longer than the average rated life hours listed on the box. I didn't notice the drop in illumination.

Some cheaper LED bulbs only last about 5,000 hours, which is still 4,000-3,000 hours longer than the average incandescent rated life, but many brands are rated to last more than 25,000 hours.

2. Energy efficiency

With each watt of high-lumen output, LEDs are able to convert about 70 percent of their energy into light. That makes them more efficient than other bulbs, which waste a lot of energy by converting it into heat. Just six-watt LED lights bulbs can produce as much light as 40-watt incandescent bulbs, and their lower temperatures also make them safer to operate. Incandescent bulbs, by contrast, can become so hot that they should be kept out of reach of children who may burn themselves, and they have been known to cause fires if they come into contact with flammable materials (for example, curtains).

Replacing a single 60-watt light bulb with an LED reduces carbon dioxide emissions by about 160kg per year. If you replace 10 lights in your home with LED lights, you will reduce your CO2 emissions by 1,599kg per year

3. High brightness and high intensity

LED lightscan emit extremely high brightness. As a result, wattage is no longer a viable measure of brightness -- instead, check the lumen output of a bulb when switching to LED lights or other energy efficient lighting. Consider how LED lights compare to incandescent and CFL bulbs:

4. Excellent color range

Incandescent bulbs require gels or filters to produce different colors and shadows. LED lights, on the other hand, offer a variety of colors and color temperatures without the use of gels or filters, which burn or fade over time. For LED lights, the changed actual diode (or its phosphorus coating) changes the color of the light it emits, so you can rest assured that it will remain the same shade until the end of its useful life.

5. Low radiation heat

While incandescent bulbs work by heating their filaments to the temperature to produce light, LED lights bulbs emit electromagnetic energy as light when charged. By converting energy into light rather than heat (rather than using heat to produce light), LED lights are able to operate at much lower temperatures than other types of bulbs.

LED lights generate very little heat, which is dissipated by special radiators designed to absorb any heat and safely disperse it out of the diode. While the actual fixture or base would feel warm to the touch, the LED itself doesn't emit infrared radiation in the beam, meaning it's not warm. This makes them the best choice for thermal sensitive areas, such as displaying artwork, as they do not cause discoloration or other thermal damage to paint or dyes.

6. Reliability

LED lights are a very durable and reliable way of lighting -- they operate safely at lower temperatures, and because they don't have filaments or other fragile parts, they can withstand more shock and vibration than other bulbs. This stability makes it ideal for use in areas with fluctuating temperatures, inclement weather and noise, such as outdoors or in ceiling fan installations.

7. Instantaneous lighting

Does this sound familiar? You turn on the light to look for something, but you have to wait a while to see anything, or you have already found it, not even reaching the maximum light output of the bulb. Unlike CFLs, which take some time to warm up, LED lights operate at full brightness from the moment the switch is pressed.

8. Directional lighting

By design, LED lights glow in one direction rather than the whole direction. This helps to reduce energy consumption because no light is wasted or captured in the reflector and diffuser, thus preventing more than half of the generated light from escaping from the bulb. The directional characteristics of their output make LED lights ideal for applications such as task lighting and recessed downlights.
