There are many types of household cleaning products on the market. Some people today make their own cleaning products at home from different ingredients. This report offers information on the most commonly used cleaning solutions. The common ingredients found in household cleaning products are acids, alkalies, detergents, disinfectants, and bleach. A majority of household cleaning products contain alkaline. Household cleaning solutions that contain acid may react with water to make dangerous toxic chemicals that are carcinogenic, teratogenic, and toxic to animals. Household cleaning solutions that include iodine can be harsh on the eyes and skin of children and pets. Household cleaning products which contain a mix of acid and Vitamin create an acidic cleaning solution. Household cleaners that contain pesticides and insecticides are poisonous to people and creatures. Pesticides contain high levels of toxins that are derived from an assortment of plant and animal components. Herbicides include alcohol plus a large number of noxious ingredients. Glycol is a common component of antifreeze and many motorcycle and automobile fluids. The poisonous nature of glycol is revealed by the fact that it is one of the most widely used ingredients in poison kits. The glycol is toxic even in its pure condition, therefore it is not surprising it is also often seen in antifreeze products also. Some of the most toxic of these chemicals are formaldehyde, carbolic acid, phthalates and trichloroacetic acid. While the majority of household cleaning products contain one or more of those substances, many men and women are unaware of their existence. Formaldehyde is a substance that is used as a preservative in cosmetics, dry hair and skin care products and artificial flowers and vegetables. Although it's recognised that exposure to elevated levels of formaldehyde over long periods of time is not necessarily dangerous, there are numerous reports of headaches, dizziness, nausea and irritation due to vulnerability. Phthalates are common plasticizers used in the production of fabrics and clothing and are also known to cause irritation, headaches and asthma. Tetrachloroacetic acid is a compound that's found in a large number of household goods, especially the synthetic brand Teflon, which has been shown to cause a variety of health issues, including cancer.
