Clinical Mass Spectrometry Finds Application in Drug Monitoring, Genomics, Anato

Clinical Mass Spectrometry (CMS) is a kind of medical laboratory analysis, which is used to identify what proteins, DNA and RNA are in any sample. It is used in almost all the places where there is any kind of blood testing. CMS utilizes the same kind of ionizing light source for both chemical and biological probes. The light is emitted by the probe and is detected by the spectroscope, which is an instrument having a curved field of mirrors or crystals that letting the light pass through it. This spectroscopy is used to examine living tissues as well as other things like dried blood, urine and other solid materials etc.

In clinical mass spectrometry, the test is completed by spraying the sample with the specific analyte. The sample is then analyzed after it passes through the MS instruments for getting the data about its characteristics. The data is then recorded and sent to the professionals for further analysis. This is a useful diagnostic test for various kinds of blood and body fluids. These tests are also very useful for various aspects of drug development testing. The sample analysis is very useful for getting the data about the composition of a drug sample or a biological sample.

Clinical mass spectrometry has many widely used clinical applications and it can be considered as a versatile science for all fields. The clinical applications cover almost all the areas of drug monitoring, genomics, anatomy, clinical biochemistry, human physiology and many other areas as well. Among all the applications of mass spectrometer, it is the chemical analysis that gets the maximum attention in clinical applications.

The main and the most extensively used applications of clinical mass spectrometry in clinical laboratories include, DNA/RNA extraction, tandem mass spectrometer ionization /mass spectrometer fingerprinting, metabolite profiling using RFLP techniques and many more.
