Yeshua – The Anointed One

Posted by Mak Peter on February 2nd, 2021

Yeshua (in Hebrew) means 'one who rescues,' or 'the one who delivers.' Hence, Jesus Christ is known as the salvation of the mankind who had gone astray. He was the best of men, and he was sent by God, the All-Mighty, to save the people from eternal torture.

Louis Obioha Eke authored the book "YESHUA IS HIS NAME: THE NAME OF THE SAVIOR IS GIVEN ONLY BY GOD" as a religious explanation to the loss of the name of the "Savior" in translation with the passage of time. This book's aim is to show the evidence and the facts as they have always been.

It has delivered extensive knowledge on Christian history, explicitly discussing the name associated with Jesus Christ today. Louis Obioha has highlighted and explained the way how the name 'Jesus' came into existence. This book is worth reading as it presents exciting information on Jesus and why it's essential to understand the name Yeshua. His references from the Bible and extensive research offer a productive argument over this topic. It is worth mentioning that he does so by neither condemning today's English name of Jesus nor contradicting the Christian scholars' authenticity. This book is a must-read for all the Christians of today who are interested in living their lives as they are expected to.

How the name 'Yeshua' came into existence

Yeshua Mashiach means the 'Anointed One.'

Well, this is something we should start from the resurrection of Christ. The Bible was not written by the apostles, and the followers of Yeshua were all Jews, and they spoke Hebrew or Aramaic language. After the demise and renaissance of Jesus Christ, the apostle started to write the scriptures, which are now called New Testament. These books were written in Hebrew or Aramaic language, and as Christianity spread all over the middle east area and throughout the world, people like pagans or Romans converted from their religion and accepted Yeshua as their Messiah (as it was known as salvation was from Jews to the world). Yeshua Mashiach's apostles and followers converted people and showed the people the best ways to living life. At that time, the Greek language was widely spoken; therefore, the Bible's scriptures were also translated from Hebrew to Greek. Yeshua was the name given from our God, through angel Gabriel, at the time when Gabriel met Virgin Mary. He delivered God's message to Mary that she will be conceiving a child and he should be named Yeshua.

So let me ask you, why prefer a man-given name over the God-given name?
