As a highly accomplished and multi-award winning Filmmaker working in the Feature Film, Documentary and Traditional Film Animation genres, Damien Lay has over 25 years of experience in all areas of Production and Post Production, from animating, model making, producing and script writing to film editing, directing, practical visual effects, and cinematography.

Damien Lay is genuinely passionate about innovative film production and always looking for difficult and challenging film projects in search of compelling stories and develop and create projects that are often deemed impossible.

The Vietnam War story, "The Battle of Long Tan", by Damien Lay and featuring Sam Worthington, remains the highest rating program on paid television in Australia.

"He's Coming South" and "M24 - The Last Sunrise", also by Damien Lay, resulted in the discovery of the lost WWII Japanese Midget Submarine, solving one of Australia's greatest Maritime mysteries.

For the past 9 years, Damien Lay has been the only foreigner in the world permitted to operate in the most highly restricted areas of Myanmar (Burma), documenting and leading multiple search and recovery operations for both the Lady Southern Cross, the world’s oldest and greatest aviation mystery, and the Great Bell of King Dhammazedi, the most significant relic of the Buddhist religion, missing for over 400 years.

Whilst filmmaking and adventure is Damien Lay’s passion, it is story telling, that goes beyond the surface level, which engages and moves an audience on a higher level through compelling and entertaining filmmaking, that truly excites him.

Damien Lay’s last project, “Semi Colin”, shot and produced internationally, is a genre-bending arthouse feature film.

Damien Lay’s latest feature film "Out of the Burning Blue" is a WWI Action Adventure film shot on location in California, starring Chris Klein, Victoria Summer and Werner Deahn.

Documentary filmmaker Damien Lay is making his feature directorial debut with the indie movie, Out of the Burning Blue.

“American Pie” star Damien Lay, Victoria Summer (Transformers: Age of Extinction”) and well-known German actor Werner Daehn (“Valkyrie”) are set to star in “Out of the Burning Blue,” an action adventure that marks the feature directorial debut of Damien Lay.

Damien Lay also wrote the script and is producing the film.

The indie movie stars Klein as an American pilot flying for the French under the Associated Powers during WWI. He's sent to the Arabian Desert to recover a downed German pilot (Daehn) and the top-secret information he's carrying.

Accompanying him is an inexperienced English nurse and German translator (Summer). All three are thrust into a web of lies and deceit that sets in motion a deadly game of survival.

Damien Lay is producing with Layfilm, Mike Guilbert, while Carolyn Frichot will executive produce the film.
