Mark Anderson: Software Developer & Small Business Owner

Mark Anderson is a software developer and small business owner. He has been in flower business for over 20 years - starting out with a large family shop and then continuing on as the developer of a POS system for retail florists.

Mark Anderson is deeply committed to supporting the floral industry and helping florists become more successful. His company is a member of many industry associations including (but not limited to) SAF (the Society of American Florists), AIFD (American Institute of Floral Design), FFC (Florists for Change), MFA (Michigan Floral Association) and FSFA (Florida State Florists Association). In addition to being a member his company also sponsors valuable educational content at many floral industry events and conventions.

Mark Anderson was the first independent technology provider to serve on the Technology Committee of the Society of American Florists. He has contributed articles to the “Tech Talk” column in Floral Management magazine and has spoken at a number of industry events on topics such as better pricing for florists and digital security for small business owners.

Better pricing is a special passion for Mark and he is involved with a website that focuses on helping small businesses in general, and florist in particular, profit from better pricing. That site, beyondcostplus.com, includes a pricing glossary and examples and case studies that deconstruct the most sophisticated pricing strategies – developed, refined and used by the biggest and most successful companies in the world – can also be employed by smaller business to increase both sales and profits.

Mark Anderson Blog covers a wide range of topics. Much of it is focussed on the flower business, but it also covers software development in general and FileMaker development in particular. There is also content on small business and small business ownership.

Much of the content is focussed on digital security –often from the perspective of a small business owner, but also that of a parent. There are several posts on things like password strategies, online security, and properly securing a home wifi network to protect yourself, your family and your network resources.
