Clemson football 4 jersey number to be considered for retirement

Hundreds of Clemson football players have gone on to play in the NFL and have successful careers and should all be honored. However, there is a distinct respect for tigers who have gone from 'elite' to 'mythical' status.

In the history of the program, only three Clemson football players have retired their football jerseys numbers: Steve Fuller (4), Banks McFadden (66) and C.J. Spiller (28). While you can't just go around retiring numbers for this, there are some players in the Dabo Swinney era that are definitely worthy of consideration, even if it ended with a patch for future jerseys that would be a big boost to their achievements.

Respect to Deshan Watson (No. 4- for the second time) Steve Fuller's number first came after retirement, when Country Watson came to Clemson and that number should be retired, removed and never used again, at least in my opinion.

Fuller is still considered one of the all-time greatests to play at Clemson and Watson is the all-time greatest, at least in most opinions. Watson was the first quarterback after Homer Jordan to lead Clemson to the National Championship and gave the Tigers a spot in two National Titles and won two ACC Championships.

He was undefeated against in-state rival South Carolina and took this Clemson football program to a new level that many fans had never imagined.
