Dumping hoppers are useful in many applications needing a convenient way to dispose of debris and trash. Nowadays, self-dumping hoppers can effectively transport and dump materials without you having to tilt them over or personally handle them. There are different types of self-dumping hoppers that you can consider for your needs. The best ones have a 10 gauge or 12 gauge steel bodies that can hold up to 4,000 pounds, with capacities of up to five cubic yards. High-quality hoppers are constructed with 10 and 12 gauge carbon steel and continuously welded to make sure that they are safe, reliable, and durable.

Types of Self-dumping Hoppers:

One of the leading companies that specialize in self-dumping hoppers has five types of different hoppers that can match every application.

  • Rugged hopper – This is a 3/16-inch plate steel hopper that can hold up to 8,000 pounds of material. It is available from 1/8 cubic yards to five cubic yards for different material handling needs. For better tracking and wear resistance, the rugged hopper has an exclusively extruded and pierced trunnion track with taper pills. A flip secure latch is part of the construction. An 8,000-pound capacity rugged hopper has base to body chains with a continuous stop bar for added reinforcement. Rugged hoppers are ideal for handling glass, sand, sawdust, ash, coal, metal scrap, stampings, construction material, and rubber.

  • Durable hopper – This is designed for lightweight loads like wood, construction debris, plastics, paper, metal turnings, light recycling materials, and aluminum cans. It is available in 2,000- to 4,000-pound capacities.
  • Ultimate hopper – This can safely load and handle anywhere from 8,000 to 10,000 pounds of extra heavy material. The ultimate self-dumping hopper is designed for harsh work environments and they are available in 1/3 cubic yards to five cubic yards for extreme material handling needs. The body is made of 1/4-inch carbon steel, with a strong heavy duty box tube base for the 10,000-pound model. It has a flip secure latch, base-to-body chains, and a continuous stop bar.
  • Behemoth hopper – This self-dumping hopper is available in 8,000 to 10,000-pound capacities and is designed for extra heavy material handling in harsh working environments. It features a 72-inch long heavy duty box tube base with a slide bolt latch. Base-to-body chains, two bottom support channels, three rows of side and back angles, and a continuous stop bar are part of the construction. Behemoth hoppers can handle heavy construction materials, minerals, concrete, hot ash, glass, castings, and forgings.

  • Custom hoppers – Some companies can make a custom self-dumping hopper for special applications needing an extra strong and robust dumper. Custom self-dumping hoppers have trunnion tracks that are pierced and extruded with taper pins for better wear resistance.
