The Goliath Tarantula is said to be the second in size among the spider varieties available. It majorly preys on birds and so does it get its name. This species is known to majorly reside in South America and prefers living in deeps burrows located in areas that are bushy and marshy. The female is known to lay up to 50 eggs in a single hatch which lay hidden in its burro for between 6 and 7 weeks during which the female guards them. Once the eggs have hatched the newborns live inside the nest until they have undergone their fast hatch.

The Goliath Tarantulas are not considered as suitable candidates for pets by most people, primarily due to their aggression to other species including humans. They also have toxin in their fangs which may cause sweating and nausea in humans which makes them unlikely to be domesticated by most persons.
