Get to know about Yuhua Cave

Lying at the foot of Tianjie Mountain seven kilometers south of Jiangle County, the cave holds jade-like rocks which are dazzling in all directions, hence the name Yuhua (Jade Dazzling) Cave. Yuhua Cave extends over 5 kilometers, and the main cave is 2.5 kilometers long. It is the largest and longest limestone cave in Fujian.

Yuhua Cave holds two main passages and six lesser caves. i.e., Zanghe. Leigong, Guozi. Huangni, Xiyuan and Baiyun, which are distributed disorderly on three levels. Walking along the zigzagged paths in the cave, tourists may feel as if they come to a labyrinth. The cave also has three streams, namely Stone Spring, Well Spring and Soul Spring. which have limpid and shallow waters. Over 180 scenic sights can be found in the cave, such as Decorated Jade Palace. Thirsty Dragon Drinking Water, Morning Light, Green Penglai Island, Eagle Standing Still, and Weeping Candles in the Wind, which are all formed by corroded limestone. The Immortal Field, the Stove for Making Pills of Immortality, Litchi Pillar, Dragon Jumping out of the Sea, Boy Paying Homage to Goddess of Mercy are the most vivid and lifelike.

At the entrance, tourists can find a scenic sight of "Fanning the Winds", where there is a nip in the air even in summers. At the exit, tourists will view the scene of the "Five Watches of the Night," where visitors can experience the process from dawn to daylight. The temperature in the cave is about 10 ℃, warm in winters and cool in summers, so it is suitable for tourists to do sightseeing all the year round. On the cliffs at the entrance and exit of Yuhua Cave, many cliffside inscriptions of the Song Dynasty are preserved.
