A recent research into the lives of teenagers in the USA has revealed some worrying patterns regarding healthy life styles. While our kids are far from being Run of the mill healthy, they don't fit in with all the American lifestyle. The research was undertaken by researches done at the University of Michigan. The most important aim of the research was to determine wholesome lifestyle behaviours, such as average day sleeping duration, sports action level, sedentary habits, sport dependency and eating habits, of middle school students in their mid-teens (15 17 years). It discovered that too much tv viewing was a major factor in the unhealthy lifestyles of these children.
It had been discovered that almost all of these adolescents spent an average of eight hours a day watching television. It was also noticed that most of them were enthusiastic viewers of videos on the pc. Surprisingly the computer employed by them was also found to be a substantial contributor towards this sedentary way of life. The majority of them reported that they did not even find time to play games on the computer. These patterns were also consistent across all the different ethnicities examined.
This analysis has many limitations. The data collection period just covered a period of five years. The identical pattern may have emerged at various times in other college years. Additionally, it only included children who were at regular school. Thus it is also not clear how the routines of viewing television or usage of this computer could have changed with progress in education level.
You may be shocked at exactly how easy it's to incorporate a healthy life style to your routine. It simply requires a little idea. Kids deserve the very best, and parents need to do whatever they can to ensure that they are getting it. Obviously, you can even join in with the growing community of parents committed to healthy lifestyles, and share ideas and suggestions with others. Your children will thank you for it.
