Packing Supplies of the Future

Posted by 5starstoragecom on January 3rd, 2015

Have you ever wondered what it will be like to move from house to house in the future? In a hundred or so years from now, the thought of loading all your stuff on a moving-truck will potentially be thought of as an archaic idea.

The notion of packing and transporting cardboard boxes might end up being replaced by packing boxes whose portability no longer requires any heavy lifting. Who knows, such a box may simply take advantage of tuning itself to the earth's magnetic field, using the magnetic frequencies to achieve a state of levitation. Just imagine how wonderful that would be on a person's aching back!

Then again, people might even simply avoid the packing process altogether, living in homes that have been designed to uproot themselves and move from one place to another.

The Age of Moving Robots

Before we reach such a lofty state of technological existence, it is likely that humanity will turn to robots as a first step to reduce the burden on those who pack and transport their stuff from one location to another. This step in the natural evolutionary progression of technology is nearly within reach. Artificially intelligent machines already exist that can work with global positioning satellite signals. With GPS devices embedded in their internal wears, robots of the not-so-distant future will be able to not only pack and lift our boxes for us, but they will also be able to intelligently determine where these boxes should go in response to voice commands.

Another great advantage of using robots is that they will have the ability to scan the size and quantity of the stuff being moved. From here, a robot will be able to derive the most efficient packing algorithm for ensuring that space is not being unnecessarily wasted. This goes for both the boxes being filled or when speaking of packing the available space of the truck doing the transporting.

Back to the Here and Now

It would sure be nice to be able to dump all the moving and heavy lifting on the shoulders of a robot designed to move stuff. Maybe someday that will all become a convenient reality. But today, people still get their cardboard boxes – in San Diego, at least – from 5 Star Storage, a locally recognized leader helping people obtain all the packing supplies they need for that big move. If you end up with excess cardboard boxes and other packing supplies, you can return your unused packing supplies to 5 Star Storage.
