The first is they are search engines - but they are also bots. This means that they crawl the web, looking for sites that have relevance with what you are trying to sell people. To do this, the bots use Google and other similar engines to look up sites that offer similar products and services. They then find those sites, crawl through their pages and check if they are relevant. If they are, the bots give you links to your ad groups or your page.
