How Exercise can Promote Sexual Health

When we are in our early twenties we do not realize that sexual health is something we will need to work to keep. As we age we start to have less sexual desire, or we begin to achieve orgasms less frequently and many people think this is a natural part of aging. The truth is that you can maintain good sexual health far longer if you exercise regularly. Regular exercise is beneficial to promoting a healthy sex life.

At the Wellness Inst. of America we asked for some expert advice on how exercise could improve our sexual health.

  • When you exercise on a regular basis you boost circulation of blood throughout your body. When you improve your circulation you will also increase the amount of sexual arousal that you feel. It takes good blood flow for you to have good genital sensations and for you to have adequate amounts of lubrication. Men who have a regular exercise regimen have fewer instances of erectile dysfunction because of the increased blood flow.
  • While you are exercising your body is sending powerful endorphins to your brain to wash away tension and relieve stress. By getting rid of the excess stress you increase your ability to feel sexually aroused.
  • Exercise will increase muscle mass as it depletes fat stores. When your muscle mass starts to increase so will your body's production of testosterone.
  • Exercise helps you to lose weight and tone your body. When you feel like you look better you increase your sexual desire, and your response to sexual advances. Confidence plays a large part in sexual satisfaction.
  • When you exercise you burn excess calories so you maintain a healthy weight. People who are at a healthy weight will enjoy a higher quality of sex than people who are overweight.
  • Exercising will increase the amount of stamina that you have and that means you will be able to engage in sexual activity for longer periods of time. That adds up to an increase in sexual pleasure for you and your partner.

You want to do at least twenty minutes of cardio exercises five or more times a week, and you want to do strength training and weight training at least three times each week. You need to add some muscle toning exercises to your regimen at least two times a week.

The Wellness Inst. Amer can help you to learn the exercises that you can do that will help increase your sexual health.
