I've been horseback riding in Almeria often now and still have fallen deeply in love with the best place. There are a few places you are able to go across Almeria but my favourite must be a genial little family run trekking centre called Desert Riders Spain which is the only 1 located in the heart in the Tabernas Desert. It's my special getaway - the area I go to chill, just forget about work, soak up the sun's rays and gallop through the mountains with the wind within my hair! There can be a couple of "adventure trekking" places springing up around Spain and I've been trekking with several. In my opinion none from the other locations I've been to provide such unique and unspoilt scenery and when you ride in Tabernas you'll be able to see the most stunning views. You definitely need a hire car but it's easy to get at. Its 20 mins from Almeria airport to Tabernas and the roads can be extremely good. Not like various other remote Spanish locations in which you need to travel miles and miles on bumpy dirt tracks in the side of your mountain with perilous drops on them! The roads are wonderful and really simple to navigate. This means it's not so overwhelming to have a hire car and in reality having an example may be far better as you've plenty of freedom to look anywhere you would like and explore the spot. While you're there I highly recommend you "mosey on down" to Fort Bravo, which is the original film set for all of the spaghetti westerns we realize and love. It's amazing! When you're riding with the desert you truly feel as if you're likely to be in a single of people scenes about the Clint Eastwood films. I believe they filmed that recent western-themed Halifax advert there too - over a plateau I rode across last Christmas! So strange seeing it on TV! They film loads of stuff round there and you are able to't blame them really. The landscape can be so picturesque. It's diverse too. You can be riding through cactus fields 60 seconds or so, then up a rocky mountain path. Then galloping across an enormous mountain plateau or salt flats flanked by big imposing mountain ranges. Or trotting through little winding paths between tumbledown old fincas as well as the old abandoned emerald mines. There's also Goolwa holiday rental - which will make you feel like you have Arizona not Spain! Because they're right for the edge of national park with unspoiled scenery in each and every direction, they've got a pick of limitless routes in any direction you like. Desert Riders have a very good arena as well, so if you want any lessons before you step out that's there for you personally. Their horses are really well trained and they also determine what they certainly. They treat their horses like family and they are very knowledgeable. I'd class myself being an experienced and competent rider who's just been out from the saddle for years due to work and other commitments. Riding in Tabernas really made me pine to possess my very own horses again! Or at least make much more of an attempt to get out and ride back inside the UK. Every day I woke up with the sun beaming down and sat down for breakfast with these and so they asked about "Where d'you fancy going today then?" and I'd say "Ooh, it's great up for the reason that direction, what's up there?" and they also'd explain, we'd agree on the plan for the day and exactly how much riding I wanted to perform then that has been it - we were off! They're not a professionally run hotel or anything like this, so do not be scared of some "rustic charm"! You're not walking into a Hilton or anything, but I personally think that's part of the appeal. If you do head to Tabernas something I'd definitely recommend is to leave while you are there and also have a drive into Tabernas. It's a lovely sleepy typical little Spanish village with all of whitewashed houses and everyone sat outside drinking coffee inside streets and little cafes. If you do go out into Tabernas village though be prepared and please take a phrase book along! If you are going right into a shop they're going to try their best to communicate in English to you personally however this is simply not Lloret or Benidorm this is the real Spain and so they are Spanish people, don't assume all English ex-pats!!
