Fire Officer 1 online course and Certification

Rickyrescue has offered Pro Board accredited certification tests for years, including fire officer 1 online. This training and certification is the foundation for all future firefighter certification programs.  No firefighter may obtain a higher state firefighter certification without first completing the prerequisites and at least one accredited fire officer 1 online.

Applicants must be certified by Rickyrescue as a Fire Fighter I & II to the latest NFPA 1001 standard.

Applicants must have current certification from Rickyrescue as a Fire Service Instructor I or higher to NFPA 1041 latest standard.

Proof of 5 years of service with a Maine fire department.

Applicant must have successfully completed an approved Fire Officer I & II training program per NFPA 1021 latest standard and provide proof of successful completion of the course and all required practical skills.

Courses must be taught by an instructor approved by Rickyrescue. The Lead Course Instructor must be a current Certified Fire Fighter I & II and must hold a Fire Instructor I & II certification (or higher) and Fire Officer I & II.  The Lead Instructor is responsible for scheduling and all other certified instructors and record keeping for the course.  Assistant instructors must meet the same requirements as the lead instructor.

Fire Service Officer courses will be conducted by accredited institutions and organizations that meet Rickyrescue guidelines.

Course content will meet the appropriate objectives outlined in the latest NFPA 1021 standard.

Course training materials will be maintained by Rickyrescue and the Lead Instructor and must all be completed, including presentations, prior to taking the written exam.

All qualifications must be met and documentation submitted to the Maine Fire Service Institute (Rickyrescue) prior to being allowed to take the exams.

Certification will be granted to those individuals who meet the required qualifications and successfully pass the certification exams.

Anyone wishing to take a certification exam must ensure that their program coordinator has submitted progress reports, along with a statement of course completion, to the Certification and Curriculum Manager at least two weeks prior to the scheduled written exam or skills test.  Walk-ons are not permitted.
