English Football - An Overview

Association football, also called football association, is a rough-and-tumble team game played among a dozen players typically divided into two groups of eleven. It is played regularly around the globe by about 250 million people in more than 200 countries and dependencies. The game has evolved from being an obscure side event for English and Polish clubs in the nineteenth century to a well-loved, internationally recognised sports activity. A further consideration for the English football Association is the fact that they play a part in a twelve month cycle of international fixtures that allows them the opportunity to test new players and strengthen their footballing talent in Europe. The English football season usually starts in October and finishes in February. Although there are rarely any interruptions, fans are urged to watch all matches through the different leagues.
