England's Premier League - A Sports Culture

Association football, also known as football, is a common team sport usually played between two sides of eleven players. It is played throughout the world by about 250 million players in more than 200 nations and dependencies. The game is predominantly played for commercial purposes, such as amusement, but also has a social side, which encourages social interaction and a friendly spirit. The game has an interesting history, having evolved from what would be considered an obscure game for the upper classes in ancient Rome, to the level that it enjoys today in many countries.

Association football can be split into two divisions, or competitions, the English and the French versions. Both types are played between teams of professionals, with the matches being called matches, depending on the term used. Matches are traditionally played for three phases, before a throw-in is made (a restart), before kick-off is made, ดู บอล สด 7m and finally there is a half-time break. When the break is called, play usually continues on for one further phase. A competition is then held when the scores are at least equal.

The basic structure of this game is simple, with each side needing to field a team of seven men including all goalkeepers, with three outfield players. The ball is played on a rectangular field, divided by a center line. Unlike many sports, soccer does not have three phases; the ball is played continuously through the entire game. The object of the game is to make the football circle around the goals and into the goal using any available form of kick, although shoot or pass is also possible.

During the early days of football the main attraction was the skill of kicking the ball, and indeed the English football association did promote the sport heavily. The English football Association was formed in 1878, and despite the fact that it was only in later years that other European countries began playing football, the popularity of the sport in England was already quite high. The first football match in England took place between the Baths and the Worthing Steelers, and although a number of matches were held throughout the main English seaside towns, the game eventually moved inland. The English football association did however face some resistance from some sections of the local population, mainly because of the harsh treatment meted out to non-native players, and also because of the fact that football was seen as a vulgar sport, and some sections of the society did not want to see a sport which included contact.
