KNOWING THE SYMPTOMS OF HEARING LOSS

The hearing loss issues trouble so many people in the world, if it sets in early, it has been a big issue for people to go on in their daily lives. The elderly are most effected, and it makes them drawn from society and others. Over a period of time, if this gets unattended to, it becomes worse and there is a chance of total loss of hearing. This makes them more dependent on their chiropratics and caregivers as they find hard to communicate and get things done. Now age-related hearing loss is a common issue worldwide.

Symptoms of hearing loss

-          Difficulty in hearing even from a nearby source.

-          Persistent ringing in the ears.

-          Sensitivity to sound

-          Social isolation

-          Giving a different answer to question asked most of the times or asking to repeat the questions or conversations.

-          Like to listen to the television and radio at loud volume.

-          Have a problem in understanding conversations in a noisy place

-          Have an issue of hearing the people who speak on the phone during a call.

-          Tired after the social occupations as they have to put effort to hear and this wears them down.

There are different kinds of hearing losses and people who have a high frequency hearing loss can’t hear female and children’s voices too well, certain consonants are hard to decipher for them. They can negotiate the car’s turn signal; the beeping sound sounds on gadgets such as ovens and timers are difficult to hear. The nature sounds such as songbirds don’t feature in their hearing capacity.

People can either have temporary or permanent hearing loss and this can happen over a period of time and the temporary can convert to permanent. So, getting it treated during the temporary stage is essential.

The causes for temporary hearing loss can be attributed to

The exposure to loud noises such as

  • Attending concerts
  • Loud gunshots
  • Bursting of crackers or fireworks.
  • Occupational exposure to loud sounds

There is a particular tolerance level and if it bypasses that there is bound to be a temporary hearing loss. This is also known as a threshold  shift which is temporary, and it happens quite a few numbers of times in a person’s life. But if you are constantly bombarded with loud noises, then this temporary effect can convert into a permanent defect and you will hear loss permanently. Since the temporary effect can be reversed or treated but the permanent one will be hard to get over or perhaps cannot be done too.

The tiny hair cells  that form the auditory nerves which are present in the inner ear, if damaged give rise to permanent hearing loss most of often seen an age-related hearing loss. the permanent hearing loss will need hearing aids and cannot be corrected otherwise. Usually, the symptoms are often neglected or not noticed at all or after a long time this problem is addressed due to self-denial or social stigma attached to hearing loss and wearing of hearing aid. There are now chiropractic professionals in this field to help you and make sure if you have the problem to help treat it or suggest a person who will do so. They are also known as hearing care professionals.
