This holiday came all the way from Ireland to celebrate, obviously, St. Patrick, the enemy of snakes everywhere. St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and is accredited with the conversion of Ireland over to Christianity during the second half of the 5th century. This is an unofficial holiday that is quite popular in the U.S. The first celebration in the U.S was held in Boston on 1737 by the Charitable Irish Society, later it came to New York in 1766 when a Irish soldiers marched through the city. However, it came to be this is still a popular festival and luckily very easy to theme. The main thing to know is that everything must be green. Chicago even went so far as to dye its river green in celebration. Gold is a secondary color, but is to be used very sparingly. Three and Four leaf clovers are the symbol of choice for St. Patrick's day so of course anything with clovers on it will also add to the theme. Most people seem to think that alcohol is an integral part of the celebration so expect any adults to be asking for some, mainly beer. There are many things you can purchase to enhance your celebration, but the main things you should include in any party are paper products, cups, plates, napkins, utensils, table clothes, all of these can be purchased in a disposable format to make cleaning much easier and usually they can have an Irish theme to them. Other things you can purchase include green top hats, themed stickers, Green glow sticks, bracelets, necklaces, mugs, and of course beer mug shaped sunglass for novelties sake.
