Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory cards are one of the most widely used storage devices in the world. These small and portable storage cards are used in phones, tablets, cameras, camcorders and many other electronic media devices. These storage cards can store all forms of data, including images, audio and video in High Definition (HD) and data can be quickly transferred to and from these cards, as in the case of a Digital Storage Products Online.

Micro SDHC Card Class 10

Storage

While the older SD cards came with a storage limit of 4 Gigabytes, SDHC cards have much greater storage capacities and come in 4/8/16/32/64 and even 128 GB capacity. Almost all types of devices manufactured in recent years come with support for SDHC, while the older ones might not be able to do so.

If you have an old device that currently runs on SD specifications, then you might want to check if there are any software updates for your device from its manufacturer so that your device can also run SDHC memory cards.

Size

SDHC memory cards come in different sizes like SDHC, mini SDHC and micro SDHC. The micro SDHC class 10 storage cards that you would find in a high definition digital camera are the smallest ones, but one of the fastest performing memory cards around.

Speed

The class of a memory card defines it speed, which is, the speed at which data can be written on and copied from the memory card using any device. The higher the class, the faster will be the read and write speed of the memory card. For example, a micro SDHC class 10 storage cards will have more read and write speed than a micro SDHC card of class 2, 4 or 6.

Micro SDHC cards with higher classes are useful for use in devices that process high volume data in instants, like a DSLR camera. DSLR cameras process high resolution images and therefore require a memory card on which data can be written and read from very fast.

SDXC Cards

Using more advanced technology, a newer category of memory cards have been developed, which are the SDXC cards. SDXC stands for secure digital extended capacity and such cards have the potential to reach storage capacities of 2 Terabytes. If you don’t know, 1 TB equals 1024 Gigabyte. And all this within the same dimension as your ordinary micro SDHC class 10 cards.
