Cabbage is truly one of the healthiest vegetables on earth. It is part of the cruciferous vegetable family, along with kale and broccoli. It supplies glucosinolates, which have been studied for their powerful anticancer properties. This sweet and tangy red cabbage slaw elevates the humble cabbage into a scrumptious and unexpected side dish. check here Why Should We Healthy Dinner!
Health Benefits of Cabbage

Cabbage supplies a good amount of the amino acid glutamine, which supports the digestive tract and has anti-inflammatory properties. Glutamine helps to fuel cells of the small intestine, nourishing the digestive tract lining. Raw cabbage juice is an extremely therapeutic beverage for treating digestive disturbances.

Cabbage contains a large amount of detoxifying fibre, vitamin K, C, potassium, manganese, vitamin B6, folate and chlorophyll.

Red (or purple) cabbage contains double the amount of vitamin C than its paler counterpart.
The deep red colour is thanks to anthocyanin polyphenols –flavonoids that have anti-inflammatory and an abundance of curative properties in a variety of diseases.

The sulfurophane content of red cabbage, along with other cruciferous vegetables has antiviral, anticancer, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial compounds. Sulfurophane reduces oxidative stress, thereby, helping to prevent disease and maintain normal cell division, growth and detoxification.

Recipe Notes

Caraway seeds are traditionally paired with cabbage and fermented foods as they taste delicious, but also reduce spasms in the gastrointestinal tract, along with aiding digestion. These, along with the beneficial properties of the cabbage’s glutamine and detoxifying fibre make this a great dish to eat on a regular basis for a healthy gut.
