OTG USB flash drives are the latest kinds of flash drives which can be connected directly to a mobile device that supports On-The-Go feature. You can easily transfer data without requiring a PC.

Almost all of us have used a USB flash drive, at home, at office, at school or anywhere else. USB flash drives have been a boon and have helped mankind carry around Gigabytes of data in their pockets. There was a time when the CD-ROM arrived in the markets, and everyone thought nothing could be better than this 700 MB flat disc, but when the USB flash drive came, life became even better.

OTG stands for On-The-Go. OTG flash drives are available nowadays through which you can transfer data between the flash drive and your smartphone. Certain android phones, for example, come with OTG compatible written as one of their features, which means that such devices can be connected directly to an OTG flash drive.

Phones and tablets that support OTG can connect to a USB flash drives and just like an ordinary PC can view, store and copy data from the flash drive. You can also connect USB sticks and external hard drives to your OTG enable smartphone.

Connecting Your Smartphone with A OTG USB Flash Drive (For Android)

1. Make sure your smartphone supports OTG. Search online if you don’t know.

2. Using Google Play, download any popular file manager for your phone. If you don’t know which one, go for the one that has a greater number of downloads.

3. Take the OTG USB Flash drive and connect it to the mini USB port on your phone.

4. Not open your phone settings, go to Storage and scroll down till you see USB disk written somewhere.

5. If your Flash drive is properly connected, your phone would be displaying storage information for your flash drive as well, just like it shows for internal storage and for your micro SD card.

6. Open the file manager you downloaded and browse through your flash drive.
