Dairy products are the most used products in the food industry. Dairy products are perishable food. Hence storing them with safety is necessary. Dairy products are most likely to spoil quickly than other products. It does not matter if you are preserving them at home or in a store. The safety of the products is still the most crucial factor. To maintain the quality of dairy products, you have to take every single requirement under consideration. Storage is essential to keep dairy products in their best condition. Some people think that placing the products inside a large upright freezer is enough to keep them fresh and safe. But some dairy products require much more attention and care. Below we have mentioned all the information you need to know about storing dairy products.

1. Milk:

Milk is a staple item for every kitchen. To store milk, I would advise you to preserve it in its original packaging. But you can also store milk in airtight bottles. If you want to freeze them, silicon reusable bags are a suitable option. Remember that milk tastes the best when it’s cold. The colder your milk gets, the longer it will last. When it comes to thawing, you can let it rest on the counter for 12 hours. The milk will separate, and all you need to do is to shake it up. Place your milk in the back of the fridge, which is the coldest part of your fridge.

2. Cheese:

Storing cheese is more difficult as compared to storing milk. It is because there are more chances of it spoiling quickly. Every cheese needs a different storage requirement. Depending on the type of cheese, some cheese needs refrigeration. But some cheese will stay fresh outside. Hard cheese like Parmesan can remain fresh inside the fridge for months. Always store hard cheese in the vegetable crisper. Mozzarella has high water content. Hence, they should stay inside the fridge all the time. If you see mold on soft cheese, throw it away immediately. But if you notice any spoilage on hard cheese, all you need to do is cut off that part of cheese.

3. Butter:

If you are storing butter safely, then it can expand the life of your butter. Remember that just like cheese, you can store butter at room temperature and even in the fridge. To extend the life of butter, prevent it from direct sunlight and heat. It can cause your butter to spoil quickly. If you want to refrigerate butter, wrap it in the plastic paper. Then store it in an airtight container. Remember that whichever dairy product you are preserving, always place it in an airtight box.

4. Yogurt:

You can store yogurt in the refrigerator for 7 to 10 days. Make sure you read the “best before” date when preserving it. I would recommend you not to freeze yogurt. Freezing yogurt will affect its texture badly. Make sure that you cover the yogurt container when storing it. But if you need to freeze the yogurt, then there are many ways to do it. You can use ice trays to freeze yogurt in the form of ice cubes. You can also use airtight silicon bags to freeze the yogurt in full form.
