Blank Laser Checks

It is essential to figure out the number of checks you would need in a week, a month, or a year. This will help you to know the average order volume. Most printers base their charges on the number of pieces for low quantity and only drop the price when the order is above 7000 pieces.

The standard size for a blank laser check can be 8-1/2″ x 11″ while the legal size is 8-1/2″ x 14″. The blank laser check could weigh around 25# because of the coating of the toner grip, but the standard weight is 24#.

Invisible and Visible Fibers

The visible fibers are embedded randomly on both sides of the paper to minimize its duplication. They are clearly visible and are also called “hairy paper.”

The invisible fibers are clearly visible when checked using Ultraviolet black light. The fibers prove the authenticity of the check. It is impossible to duplicate it electronically; It cannot be photocopied or scanned. With this fiber, you can rest assured that your check is not prone to fraud.

True and Artificial Watermarks

True watermarks are embedded within the check paper at the printing stage. They are security images that can be seen by holding the check against a light. True watermark is among the highest laser check security level.

An artificial watermark is printed by either the printer or paper manufacturer after the paper is manufactured. A paper with an artificial watermark is less costly than a paper with a true watermark. The artificial watermark is typically placed on the backside of the check and is only visible at an angle from one side. It is also referred to as the ghost printing technique. The ink used to print the watermark is either transparent or opaque white.

Coloring

The number of colors used in printing the blank laser check determines its cost. The logo artwork should be separated by varying colors for better graphics. The colors used could be between 2-4.

Blank Laser Check Back Printing

Some checks have the endorsement at the back while some don’t. The endorsement regulations vary from one country to another.

Pantograph

A void pantograph is a security measure taken in check printing. It is a form of technology that uses hidden messages to make patterns if someone tries to make a copy or tamper with the check. They are not visible with the naked eye, but they show “COPY,” “NULL,” “UNAUTHORIZED COPY,” or “VOID” when scanned or copied.

You can use pantographs that differ from check background on the amount line or signature area.
