What A Funko Pop Preview Could Tell Us About Pietro In Wandavision

Posted by Atchley on February 24th, 2021

Yes, Disney had recently bought out Fox, so that meant they owned two movie incarnations of Quicksilver and this is how they were going to play that card. “WandaVision” fans continue to be skeptical that Evan Peters’ Pietro Maximoff is the real deal. And in the continued trend of Marvel merchandise serving as potential spoilers or clues about the Disney+ MCU shows, a newly revealed Funko figurine seems to hint that people may be on the right track when it comes to Pietro’s real identity.

Fans want to figure out the truth behind Evan Peters’ arrival as Pietro, who hasn’t been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe before this. Now, the character’s newly revealed Funko Pop figure has left fans convinced that he is a fake. So, right now, Wanda doesn’t know that it’s just a different version of her twin brother. I’m sure, as the series goes on, we’ll know more and it’ll all become clear, but right now, I’m fine with not knowing. We don’t know what’s going to happen with Pietro and Wanda, and maybe the quotations do mean something bigger for the character, but I just think that they’re there because we don’t knowfor surethat he’s any Pietro—yet.

Following WandaVision's Episode 6 release, and in conjunction with it's Virtual Con Spring 2021 product reveals, Funko added some new Pops to their WandaVision collection, matching the earlier-announced figures of Vision and Wanda in their Halloween costumes. A two-pack featuring Billy and Tommy in their costumes is being sold as a virtual Emerald City Comic-Con exclusive, while one of Pietro in his costume will be released as a Funko.com exclusive.

The recent release of Pietro's WandaVision Funko Pop may reveal a huge secret about his character.

After revealing the first wave of WandaVision Funko figures back in October, I anticipated that there would be new figures produced from the series. Yesterday we talked about some of the WandaVision characters we want to see from Funko. From Agnes the Neighbor and Darcy Lewis to Agent Woo and some spoiler characters, there are plenty of designs to choose from. Fans can check out our whole list of WandaVision Pops we want to see next here; just be aware of spoilers. The same goes here, if you have not caught up on WandaVision, then turn back now as Funko has unveiled a new spoiler Pop.

Peters’ version of Pietro first appeared in Episode 5, “On a Very Special Episode…”, when Wanda opens the door to find her brother standing outside her home. While Darcy Lewis is quick to point out that Pietro has been “recast,” the following episode led fans to question his true motives. A conversation between the siblings in Episode 6, “All-New Halloween Spooktacular! ”, during pietro maximoff funko pop their trick-or-treat walk with Wanda’s twins, raised a lot of questions about Pietro and his identity.

Next month, there will also be a new “Pietro Maximoff” Pop! We’ve already theorized at length about what Pietro’s whole deal is and if he’s a potential way to introduce Fox’s X-Men into the MCU. The ongoing theory among fans is that Pietro is actually Mephisto, a devil character who plays a prominent role in Wanda’s comic story. While a lot of the Mephisto clues line up, it doesn’t quite feel like the obvious answer — the main reason being that, aside from this series, Marvel hasn’t really done anything to earn Mephisto arriving in the MCU. Funko Inc. is an American company that creates pop culture collectibles, which have become very popular over the past decade. The company has created vinyl figurines of more than 8,000 pop culture characters.

But more than that, I think this entire thing is a misdirect. Right now, we don’t know how Evan Peters’ version of Pietro is in this universe, and we don’t know who brought him there. At this point, the evidence is overwhelming that Peters isn't playing the real Pietro.
