For protecting your windows, interior doorways, fixed appliances, you can also tape them with plastic sheets.

For enhanced results with a smooth finish, it is better to use general finishes cabinet paint. You can also start by painting the inside first. If your kitchen cabinets have rough surfaces or have already been painted before, then better to get the sandpaper first.
