Requiem for the American Dream version 2.0

The painting'Seconds (Secondary)'is undoubtedly one of the greatest works of John Frankenheimer, at once coolly received by viewers and critics and almost half-forgotten. The reason for this isn't only the innovative style and unusually cruel ending, however the theme of the picture. The director encroached on the absolute most sacred thing - the American Dream, the very best and most correct dream an inhabitant of planet Earth can only just dream of ... Banker Arthur Hamilton (John Randolph) is just a man who has nothing more to want. His American Dream came true 103.97%. www.treasury.gov/cgi-bin/redirect.cgi/?fmovies.dev/genre/best/best-2021/ A higher position, a decent account, a mansion in a prestigious area, a huge lacquered trough of a family car, a grownup daughter who flew away from her father's nest, and a wife with whom he was no further connected by anything, not even bed. Life slides along rolled rails, before a calm, secure and predictable old age. All conjugal love came out, and was there any? No friends. There is once Charlie, with whom, as students, they won tennis tournaments and swore eternal friendship. But Charlie died not so long ago. Or could it be still not ?! A strange night call, an unfamiliar voice, claiming so it was him, Charlie! Ravings of a madman? A stupid prank? But no body except Charlie could know such details ...'Old man, I'm not merely not dead, I'm much more alive than I was within the last few 25 years of my entire life! 2020 movie review And you can become the same. There is a Firm that offers its clients an additional life. Come tomorrow to the address that the man at the station gave you this morning. new movies reviews Call yourself Wilson ...' Rue Lafayette 34. Laundry. Bug or cover?'They've moved.' At the brand new address as it happens ... a meat-packing plant, but, strangely enough, Mr. Wilson is expected here. The obligatory white robe and hard hat, the squeamish passage between the cow carcasses hanging on hooks ... The past area of the journey needs to be achieved in a meat wagon * with the inscription'Honest Arnie - trade in second-hand cows '. (The ominous irony with this inscription becomes clear only at the very end.) The Firm's services are very specific. There's nothing supernatural - no transmigration of souls, no brain transplant, everything is the framework of physical laws (albeit beyond your framework of criminal ones), but it is worth imagining all the logistics of this case, how clearly the smell of sulfur is felt ... The client is organized a sudden death (a specially prepared corpse will soon be buried) and complete change in appearance. A fresh person exists with authentic documents, biography and position in society, ready to take pleasure from a new life ... A tempting offer is supported by blackmail. Person who has learned about the Firm does not have any turning back. Ahead are months of painful operations and grueling workouts (a second youth isn't given in vain), a brand new face (damn attractive - women fall for such in the beginning sight!) A brand new voice and even new fingerprints! Finally, a new career that responds to the client's true calling, which can be learned from him under hypnosis. It's finished! Arthur Hamilton died tragically. Instead, he was created a successful artist Tony Wilson (Rock Hudson), favored by critics, who has paintings in museums and solo exhibitions. As opposed to gloomy New York, Wilson lives in a radiant Malibu. He includes a wonderful studio and John the footman, prepared to unobtrusively introduce the owner to the course of a fresh life. And all this with the appearance of Rock Hudson. What man wouldn't dream of it ?! As the saying goes, be careful with dreams, they could come true. Artist Wilson doesn't seem happy at all. He walks gloomily over the beach all day long long and awkwardly runs his brush over the canvas. He was presented with someone else's life on a silver platter, but he didn't live it and remained with his previous experience, unnecessary and inapplicable in a fresh life. The famous artist does not learn how to draw, and behind the playboy's appearance is an alone, unsociable, distrustful introvert, used to and preferring to deal not with people, but with papers and numbers.
