The Xiangshan Film and Television City is one of the top tourist destinations of the Ningbo district in east China. Here, tourists can bask in the view of the Lingyan Mountain, as well as other natural sceneries in the area.

Located 87 miles from Ningbo, the Xiangshan Film and Television City occupies a land space of 1091 square kilometers. It is protected by two-gated walls measuring 400 meters long, 6 meters wide and 10 meters high.

The Xiangshan Film and Television City is known all throughout China as it was named the “Long Triangle Weekend Leisure Travel Hot Scenic Spot” in 2006, “The Provincial Film and TV Production Base” of 2007 and “Ningbo’s Culture Demonstration Base” in 2008. 

Rich History

The Xiangshan Film and Television City was constructed to serve as the backdrop of the movie “A Couple of Chivalrous Swordspersons and their Supernatural Eagles,” an adaptation of the same-named famous model. The city is complete with mansions, streets, squares, ponds, caves and lakes and cost about RMB 120 million to make.

The Xiangshan Film and Television City is said to be inspired by Song Dynasty architecture. Because of its traditional edifices and structures, filmmakers who want to produce movies in the settings of ancient Chinese times will benefit from the Han, Qin, Tang, Qing, Ming and of course, Song dynasty architecture of the city.

A Movie City Indeed

For its beautiful landscapes and backgrounds it was hailed as one of the top 10 film and television bases in China. The citation is but appropriate, as many movies have chosen the Xiangshan Film and Television City as their backdrops.
