Generic Pharma: Generic Medicine in India

Posted by Generilife on March 11th, 2021

A Generilife Pvt. Ltd. is a generic pharma that is manufactured in the same way as a pre-marketed brand-name drug, such as pharmacology, safety, potency, route of administration, quality, performance characteristics, and purposeful use. This similarity helps to show bioequivalence, i.e. a generic drug works in the same way and offers clinical benefits like brand name medicine. In other words, you can take generic medicine as a substitute for its brand-name area.

Any generic medicine should be treated in the same way as a brand-name drug in the body. It should be similar to the brand-name drug in dosage, form, and route of administration, safety, effectiveness, potency, and labeling (with a few limited exceptions). It must meet the same high standards of quality and manufacturing as the brand-name product and must be of the same quality, taken, and used in the same way. This standard applies to all common medicines.

Why does a generic medicine look different from their brand drug?

Generic drugs are approved only after a strict review by the FDA and after a period of time when the brand's product has only been brought to market. This is because new drugs, like other new products, are protected by patents that prevent others from making and selling copies of the same drug.

Generic drugs have lower prices compared to their brand-name parts because generic drug applicants do not need to repeat the animal and clinical (human) studies that are required for brand-name drugs to demonstrate safety and efficacy and this is why the application is called "abbreviated new drug application".

Advantages and disadvantages of generic drugs:

There are many arguments for the disadvantages or risks of choosing a generic drug. The most vocal of the critics are branded drug companies who believe that generic medicine is not adequately tested for safety. With this in mind, the U.S. The Food, Drug, and Drug Administration (FDA) developed a strict set of criteria that must be passed before each general pharmaceutical company is allowed to sell a specific drug on American soil.

On the other hand, India is the largest supplier of generic drugs and is promoting the use of generic drugs, but a set of criteria for determining the quality of generic drugs has not yet been formulated. This does not mean that India does not take generic drugs seriously, it does mean that it is still pursuing a policy of certifying generic drugs.

Generic medicines are drugs that are in the form of dosage, use, quality, effect, method of consumption, composition, and branded parts of the active ingredient. They need to look different from their branded parts and maybe even taste a little different than that. Generic drugs are also slightly cheaper than their branded parts.
