Featured Attractions From the Heart of Uganda There are only a few places left in the world where natural and human histories combine as harmoniously as they do in the heart of Uganda. Whether you are interested in hiking, rafting, safaris or simply taking in the scenery, Uganda is the place to spend your holidays. Bwindi National Park is the first choice for those of you who like going the distance. The 331 square kilometers of impenetrable forest offer countless opportunities for hiking and safaris. It comes as no surprise that the major tourist attractions here are gorilla tracking and bird watching, since the park is home to the rare mountain gorillas and to a few hundred species of birds. Follow the bamboo trail through 14 types of vegetation and be rewarded with the spectacular vistas of Lake Bunyonyi and the Mafuga Forest! Additionally, adventure seekers will undoubtedly enjoy hiking on Africa's highest mountain range (the Rwenzori Mountains), from the lush vegetation of the wetlands at the base, through the African alpine moors, to the icecaps of the peaks. Climbing through the only habitat of the forest elephant and the giant lobelia is an experience comparable only to the memoirs of the first Roman explorers almost 2000 years ago. However, if the peaks of the Rwenzori are not enough for the typical adrenaline junkie, the Nile valley, near the town of Jinja, provides the best spot for whitewater rafting, jet boating and bungee. The scenery is as spectacular as the thrills it caters for, with 31 kilometers of class 5+ rafting and surfing at the source of the longest and "oldest" river in the world. Pack your bags for wet weather, strap on your comfiest boots and enjoy every step of your adventure. Always remember: "an adventure is never an adventure when it's happening. Challenging experiences need time to ferment, and an adventure is simply physical and emotional discomfort recollected in tranquility." Feature Jobs in Uganda
