Must-Visit Attractions in Uganda Botanical Gardens, Entebbe The beautifully landscaped botanical Garden Entebbe, established in 1901, lie on the shores of Lake Victoria Africa's greatest lake conventionally close to Kampala and Entebbe International Airport. The gardens host a variety of open country and woodland species where holiday travelers can spend precious honeymoon moments. One of the best treasures of these botanical gardens are the birds such as the African Fish Eagle, Woodland Kingfisher, Glue Blue and Ross's Turcos, etc. Bujagali Falls, Jinja Bujagali Falls is a spectacular series of rapids than a waterfall. They lie close to the Source of the Nile and are about 2 hours driving east of Kampala near the town of Jinja. White Water Rafting at Bujagali Falls is one of the best holiday activities. Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Wakiso The Namugongo Martyrs Shrine is located about 12 km out of Kampala off Jinja road. This is the site of were 37 Christian converts were burnt to death on orders of a Buganda king, Mwanga. A Basilica Church was constructed in the very place of the incident. The shrine church is dedicated in honor of the martyrs. Every year, 0n 3rd June, pilgrims converge to celebrate the lives and courage of these youthful Christian converts. The Equator Line Mark The Equator line is an imaginary line on the Earth's surface. In Uganda, it's located in the district of Masaka. It is a great spot, the draws countless tourists to Uganda to get a glimpse of the mark that divides up the earth in its half. It a place worth visiting and many opt to take photographs at the spot. Semliki Valley National Park Located in the extreme west of Uganda in Bundibugyo District in a remote corner of south western Uganda along the Uganda and Congo Border, Semliki National Park is the best destination for adventure trails in Uganda. It is nestled at the northern foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. It boasts a great variety of wildlife and birds. Some the popular animals to spot include Lions, giraffes and much more. Key bird species include the shy Shoebill, African pygmy Goose, Pearl-spotted Owlet, etc. Birders should not miss visiting. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Bwindi Park is a real adventure quench. It is the most famous National Park in Uganda. It's famed for the endangered Mountain Gorillas. The best Uganda Gorillas safaris are organized in Bwindi. The Park lies in south-western Uganda, about 535 km from Kampala and can be accessed by road from several directions. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a great birding spot. Some of the rare bird species found here include the Black-billed weaver, Grey-headed sunbird, Stranger weaver, African Green broad bill, etc. Enthusiastic birders are also catered for. Lake Mburo National Park Nestled between the districts of Masaka and Mbarara, Lake Mburo National Park is a relatively small park in Uganda. It is the only park in Uganda to contain an entire lake. It harbors several species of mammals including zebras, impala, elands, topi and buffaloes. It is also the finest among all national parks for bird watching.
