Microblading: Are Your Eyebrows Ready to Feel the New Trend?

Posted by Anthony Davidson on March 19th, 2021

What is Microblading and how does it affect the eyebrows?

So, Microblading is different from tattooing if you wanted to know this. You might have seen Instagram models and singers like Ariana Grande have perfectly shaped eyebrows, with perfect turned hair and perfect hair density, right?

That’s microblading!!

Microblading the eyebrows involves systematically and symmetrically coloring the upper layer of the skin in and around the eyebrows. This gives a perfect look to the eyebrows according to modern beauty standards. Unlike tattooing, machines and lasers are not used in Microblading, instead, hand needles are used for shading and coloring.

Does Microblading the Eyebrows hurt?

It is not so much of a ‘hurt’. However, some sensation is felt as the needle pierces your upper layer of skin. To prevent pain from needles, numbing agents are used over the eyebrows before starting the procedure.

It is actually the numbing procedure which takes a lot of time, 50 minutes to 2 hours. The actual procedure is short.

What procedures do artists follow when Microblading the eyebrows?

Most of the artists follow the same procedure, with some minor changes here and there. It is good to know the basic procedure before-hand so that you are prepared for the day and nothing unexpected can scare you (although there is nothing to get scared of)

1)  After the numbing cream has been applied and before the numbing actually starts, the artist might take the measurements of your face and your eyebrows for proper symmetry and aesthetic values.

2)  After this, the artist will start gently applying pigment over your eyebrow skin with the needle. Don’t worry it will be feather strokes, and the pigment is only put over the upper layer, it automatically travels inside. If the client still feels pain, another layer of numbing cream is put which starts its work within 5 minutes.

3)  Lastly, another layer of pigment is applied over the eyebrows and then washed after 5 minutes- time for new eyebrows!

Conclusion

To conclude, after the session is ended, there is follow-up after 6-8 months to check if the pigment hasn’t faded and so on. The whole microblading allows your eyebrows to be beautiful for at least 16-18 months.

The color doesn’t reveal itself for 30 days. In the first 10 days you will feel like the eyebrows are flaky or the color is fading away, but don’t worry, it is totally normal.

You might also feel some irritation and itching in and around the eyebrows, it is the skin healing itself. You might not want to see a doctor for this, it’ll heal itself.

Some Do’s and Don’ts

1)  Do not pick, tweeze or have electrolysis a week before the procedure.
2)  Do not sit in direct sunlight two weeks before the procedure.
3)  Do not have any facial or peel two weeks before the procedure.
4)  Stop using Retinol or Vitamin A products from a month before the procedure.
5)  Do not take fish oil or Vitamin E products one week before.
