Economic Impact of Coronavirus on WiGig Market to Reap Excessive Revenue

The world is witnessing a significant rise in the adoption of various wireless communication standards to deal with network congestion. Heavy network congestion in the existing Wi-Fi dual bands of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz is caused due to the surge in number of active internet users. WiGig solution companies are investing huge amounts to develop new standards of wireless communications, such as 60 GHz 802.11ad, to fight the growing congestion.

Also, the band of 60 GHz offers faster data transmission speed up to 7 Gbps and is an unlicensed band. Furthermore, the surging adoption of portable handled consumer electronic devices, such as tablets and smartphones, will fuel the requirement for WiGig or 60 GHz Wi-Fi. The amplifying usage of such electronics can be attributed to the improving income levels and lucrative offers provided by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

These OEMs are integrating higher frequency bands in their offerings to attract more customers. This will, therefore, help the WiGig industry to grow from ,078.7 million in 2018 to ,386.1 million by 2024, progressing at a CAGR of 27.9% during 2019–2024. Moreover, popularizing culture of bring your own device (BYOD) has resulted in widescale adoption of WiGig solutions.

Business organizations are encouraging their employees to carry their own tablets or laptops, as this helps in extensive cost savings for employers and offers convenience to employees who find comfort in working on their systems. The employees need to connect their devices to peripherals. To eliminate the requirement for setting-up an individual connection to such devices, the businesses are willingly investing in WiGig-enabled docking stations to provide connectivity to all computer peripherals.
