BEAUTIFUL SRI LANKA Marco Polo described Sri Lanka as ?The finest island of its size in the world?. Sri Lanka is a paradise for tourists. Pristine beaches, majestic waterfalls, lush-green hills, wild life, corals, heritage sites, exotic cuisine, Sri Lanka has everything, what tourists want. Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka. Other main cities in Sri Lanka are Anuradhapura, Dambulla, Galle, hikkaduwa, Kandy, Matara, Negombo, Nuwara Eliya, Polonnaruwa, Ratnapura, Sigiriya and Trincomalee. Best time to visit Sri Lanka depends upon which place you are visiting. South West coast and up in the hills are dry from November to April, some of the world?s most finest beaches and many other tourist destinations are located in this area, November to April is the right time to visit for this region. East coast is dry from May to September. This period is the best time to visit east coast. Attractions in Sri Lanka Adam?s Peak Adam?s peak is considered sacred place for all four main religions in Sri Lanka, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam. It is also known as ?butterfly mountain?, because there are lot of butterflies. Beaches Sri Lanka inherits some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Prominent beaches on the west coast are Mt. Lavinia and Negombo. They are attracting large number of tourists. There are several well developed resorts in Mt. Lavinia. Negombo is another prominent beach on the west coast. It is a very long beach and known for its safe sea. Season for South coast beaches is from October to April. Prominent beaches on the south coast are Beruwala, Bentota and hikkaduwa. Hikkaduwa is 99 kilometers away from Colombo. It is known for its underwater beauty. Beruwala is famous for its puppets and masks utilized for devil dancing. It is 56 kilometers away from Colombo. There are number of resorts located here. Lighthouse at the Beruwala is very attractive. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage Pinnawala is one of the most popular destinations in Sri Lanka. It is nearly 80 Kilometers away from Colombo. Abandoned and disabled elephants are getting love and care here. It is an excellent elephant breeding center. Elephant lover should never forget to visit this place. Temple of Tooth The Temple of Tooth is the most holy destination for the followers of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is located in the city of Kandy. It took more than 90 years to build this temple. Everyday thousands of people visit it. It is a UNESCO world heritage site. Museums There are several museums spread all over Sri Lanka, witnessing rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka. National Museum, The Dutch period museum, National museum of natural history and Bandaranaike museum are very famous museums in Colombo. Cultural Museum and National Maritime Museum are very famous museums in Galle. Folk Museum is a very well known museum in Anuradhapura. Sri Lanka is truly a nature?s paradise!!!
