Metal signs, often called dibond, are the luxury model of yard signage. They are long-lasting and look extremely professional. Although this look comes at a price, many customers have found the expense to be very worthwhile. Here are the important facts about dibond signs.

Description

Dibond is similar to corrugated plastic in that it is made up of two exterior sheets held together by a core. The outer sheets are high-strength aluminum, and the core is made of polyethylene, which is a solid material. This is overall a better material than aluminum because the thickness prevents dings and dents, which can sometimes occur with aluminum. Overall, the material is still lightweight and only about.25" thick.

Cost

Metal will always be higher-priced, as you're paying for more material. That being said, ordering a metal lawn sign is often a one-time expense, as the material is so long-lasting. Shipping can be somewhat-costly as well, so just make sure your budget accommodates metal. If you're looking for a general business sign that lists your name and contact information (i.e. something that will be more-or-less permanent), metal is the way to go. It looks more professional and it lasts longer.

Options

The main option you want to select with dibond is your finish. The standard finish is a bright white vinyl (on which your design is printed). For an extra cost, you can often select a brushed metal finish, which provides a more-modern, custom look.

Like with corrugated plastic and aluminum, you'll also need to decide whether you want one-sided or two-sided. If you're mounting the sign against a wall, one-sided is all you need. If you intend for your message to be seen from both directions, two-sided will be worth the money.

Reflective is also an option for dibond yard signs, which gives your signage the reflective properties of a street sign. When light hits the dibond it bounces off, illuminating the sign for better vision, especially at night.

Life Expectancy

This is the key advantage of ordering custom metal signage. The material is so rigid and durable that it's designed to last a lifetime. It is completely weather-resistant and will not rust or fade. Pay more once for metal or pay less several times for a cheaper material-the choice is yours. For any sign that you plan to use for a long time, metal is well-worth considering. Accessories

Dibond can be used with many different accessories. They will fit inside real estate frames, which is great for smaller signs. For a larger piece, however, you'll want to mount it against a wall or wire it to a fence. If needed, ask your printing company to pre-drill holes for you, but the material is thin enough that you can do it yourself.
